Seriously where has the month gone? My goal was to actually try to blog my projects that I’ve created (secret is I’ve not actually done anything really). The weather is finally starting to feel good in Texas but it will get very cold quickly.
I feel as though I’m not ready for the ‘holiday’ season. It is so hard to decide what to get certain people that I would much rather not do it at all. Iva is now getting old enough that she doesn’t need to be getting toys, but not quite old enough to start getting electronics (laptop, phone, etc). It is rather cute that this year she has asked for a hair dryer and a hair straightener but has put some regulations behind them. Like they can only be BLUE, OR PURPLE. With her becoming her own person she has made it quite clear that pink is not one of her favorite colors (going to the corner to cry because pink is one of mine).
Another note since the last time I actually did anything on my blog is Iva is now in the 5th grade. This is our last year of elementary school and next year will be going to middle school. I say ‘our’ only because with all the new ways of learning Chris (my wonderful husband) and I have to learn things all over again and VERY different than the way that we learned. I find the common core math very frustrating. I don’t want my child to estimate anything going through life especially anything that has to do with money.
In the beginning of November Chris and I celebrated (not really) 12 years of being together. We have been married for 7 (September 20,2008) I only ask that he keeps track of the wedding date. Like everyone else in the world we have our good and bad days. There is way more good than bad though for sure. I’m so proud of where he has come so far to date. When we first got together neither of us made very much and we finally got our first tiny apartment a few months before Iva was born (she was 3 when we married). With the move to Texas in 2005 he just seemed to put his mind to work and got things done. He even gets to see part of the world with work as he does travel.
October is always a fun month as it is my birthday month. This year Chris paid for a friend and I to go to Cancun Mexico. This was the first time I had ever been out of the country. The resort I went to was beautiful. But it did lack in a lot of areas. When I came home from that I went to my birthday retreat and had a blast. It is always fun being around friends who enjoy spending time with you. Also in October we got some very sad news. Our dog Stamps (yes that is his name) was diagnosed with Pulmonic stenosis. Although the vet said it isn’t a really bad case and that he just has to take it a little more easy. He acts as though nothing is wrong. He does sleep a lot more though.
NOVEMBER!!!! So far for this month Chris has gone to see his mom in Washington (Long Beach), and my mother came to Texas to hang out with Iva (while she wasn’t in school). It was great to see my mom, but it is always nice when she goes home too. We really didn’t do much of anything while she was here execept for Sunday when we made the trip to the Cameron Park Zoo (Waco Texas). I really do love looking at the animals. The zoo is even small enough that an hour is all you really need (I think we were there for about 2 hours). I was smart this time and remember to take a better lens as most of the animals stay at the back of their cages and it is had to get a good picture of them. I even got a few shots of my mom (Iva) and Iva Marie. The last and final picture is of my mom and Iva at the last lunch outing before dropping my mom off at her hotel. Her flight was so early in the morning that we would have had to leave our house by 3:30am to get her to the airport in time to check in and she didn’t want to wake Iva up so she got a hotel.
